Crafting up a Storm
Crafting is a blast in Palia. There seems to always be some new recipe to make or a new crafter you should deploy.
New players will quickly learn that you're limited to 5 “crafters” (what the game calls the machines you use to refine materials) from the start. Once you reach number 6, you can't just place down new crafters anymore.
You're instructed to head to City Hall to buy a Crafting License but not much more information is given.
Quick overview
- Complete the quest asking you to place your foundation/build your house
- Wait until the house is complete (8 hours currently)
- Once you complete the quest “House, Sweet House”, venture to the City Hall Store
- Purchase your Crafting License with Gold (The first one is 500 gold)
- Return to your home
- Place your additional crafter(s)
Detailed overview
Alright, here's the nitty gritty.
One of the earlier quests you receive puts you on a path of building your house by placing a foundation. Unfortunately this foundation is pricey to place not only in materials but also time.
After you retrieve all the requisite wood and stone needed, it still takes 1-5 minute(s) per material to craft. This is where some players seek to speed up the process by building additional crafters.
BOOM, now you're in a pickle. You can only place 5 crafters total, what to do?
Well, here's the part most people don't want to hear. You have to wait.
Once you've gathered all 100 Sapwood Planks and 35 Stone Bricks and turned them into the collection NPC for the quest “House, Sweet House”, the game makes you wait 8 hours.
8 real world hours must pass before your house is complete.
Then and only then will you be able to receive the follow up quest (Strong Foundations) which allows you to interact with the City Hall Store.
The Crafting License itself is immediately purchase-able for 500 gold, not too high of a demand given it's use.
The keen eyed among you will notice that after you purchase the first Crafting License, the next license has an increased price. Be sure to mind your gold so you can purchase additional licenses later.
Easy as pie, that's all there is to it. From here you can venture back to your housing plot and place your additional crafters.
Happy Adventuring!
